“TRACY HOGG HAS GIVEN PARENTS A GREAT GIFT–the ability to develop early insight into their child’s temperament.”
–Los Angeles Family

When Tracy Hogg’s Secrets of the Baby Whisperer was first published, it soared onto bestseller lists across the country. Parents everywhere became “whisperers” to their newborns, amazed that they could actually communicate with their baby within weeks of their child’s birth. Tracy gave parents what for some amounted to a miracle: the ability to understand their baby’s every coo and cry so that they could tell immediately if the baby was hungry, tired, in real distress, or just in need of a little TLC. Tracy also dispelled the insidious myth that parents must go sleepless for the first year of a baby’s life–because a happy baby sleeps through the night. Now you too can benefit from Tracy’s more than twenty years’ experience. In this groundbreaking book, she shares simple, accessible programs in which you will learn:

• E.A.S.Y.–how to get baby to eat, play, and sleep on a schedule that will make every member of the household’s life easier and happier.
• S.L.O.W.–how to interpret what your baby is trying to tell you (so you don’t try to feed him when he really wants a nap).
• How to identify which type of baby yours is–Angel, Textbook, Touchy, Spirited, or Grumpy–and then learn the best way to interact with that type.
• Tracy’s Three Day Magic–how to change any and all bad habits (yours and the baby’s) in just three days.

At the heart of Tracy’s simple but profound message: treat the baby as you would like to be treated yourself. Reassuring, down-to-earth, and often flying in the face of conventional wisdom, Secrets of the Baby Whisperer promises parents not only a healthier, happier baby but a more relaxed and happy household as well.

From the Trade Paperback edition.

What Customers Say About Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate with Your Baby:

I am due next month, so to be fair I haven't had any real world testing with this book, but this seems like it is not at all helpful. The tone and writing style of this book did not appeal to me at all. I know babies like to hear you talk and your voice is soothing, but I don't think they are offended when you don't ask before picking them up or changing a diaper. I am very science-oriented, and the facts and concrete suggestions were hard to find as much of the book was the author recounting specific stories or encouraging you to respect your baby. It seemed like at least the first 1/3 of the book was her repeatedly telling you that the key to communicating with your baby is respecting him/her as an individual and explaining to them why you do things like bathe them. I loaned the book to my sister whose 6 week old is going through a major fussy period, and she found the book gives conflicting advice for helping the baby sleep. I much preferred Happiest Baby on the Block and my sister prefers Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child (I haven't read this one yet).

This book was for my daughter-in-law so I only read a bit in another store before buying it from you. What I read I liked, and when I asked her if the book was helping her teach her baby to sleep, she said yes.

I have the same book and love it. I was hoping for a larger sized soft cover but it's the size of a typical paper back book. I ordered this one for my sister in law who just had a baby. I was bummed to see how small the book was and the font was really small. The content is amazing and I trained all 3 of my babies with it's ideas. Would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone that has a baby.

I read this book when I was pregnant and since our baby boy was born I have read it again twice. Our boy is 5 months old now and I still recur to it again and again. So many little details of how to help your baby with respect, so much advice I took for granted the first time I read it. I really recommend this book to first time parents and to parents who encountered difficulties the first time around. No one said having a baby would be easy and Tracy helps with all the situations you could possibly encounter in a healthy baby. I would suggest also purchasing:The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems: Sleeping, Feeding, and Behavior--Beyond the Basics from Infancy Through Toddlerhood

Finally a book worth buying. I love it.I really like her EASY method but haven't try it yet. My baby is not born yet but I like the idea of looking for clues and trying to follow some kind of routine so the baby knows where she is going. Now, of course every baby is different so will see what works with mine. The thing is it's nice to find a book with a different voice, a non-guilty one especially, where the author tells you about the importance of taking care of yourself, because it simply matters and because it's good for your baby.I will recommend it.
