I read this book when I was pregnant and since our baby boy was born I have read it again twice. Our boy is 5 months old now and I still recur to it again and again. So many little details of how to help your baby with respect, so much advice I took for granted the first time I read it. I really recommend this book to first time parents and to parents who encountered difficulties the first time around. No one said having a baby would be easy and Tracy helps with all the situations you could possibly encounter in a healthy baby. I would suggest also purchasing:The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems: Sleeping, Feeding, and Behavior--Beyond the Basics from Infancy Through Toddlerhood
Finally a book worth buying. I love it.I really like her EASY method but haven't try it yet. My baby is not born yet but I like the idea of looking for clues and trying to follow some kind of routine so the baby knows where she is going.Now, of course every baby is different so will see what works with mine.The thing is it's nice to find a book with a different voice, a non-guilty one especially, where the author tells you about the importance of taking care of yourself, because it simply matters and because it's good for your baby.I will recommend it.
She's also very boastful. And if you are going to categorize and label babies, I don't think so few categories exist, and her advice is useless if your baby doesn't fit neatly into one category.
The author is condescending and I could not stand how she kept calling the reader "luv", it was very off-putting. This book looked promising but didn't really deliver.
I don't think labeling babies is a good way to start them in life, it really unconsciously affects your attitudes towards them, and as a parent that's really not what you want. While I feel strongly that a middle of the road approach like hers is the best way to go, I really did not like how she labeled different types of babies.
By dividing babies into categories, she'll call one type "Angels" and another type "Touchy" or even "Grumpy", and that is quite the value judgment there. She briefly mentions that babies often are combinations of categories and that you should blend her advice to fit the baby but she completely fails to explain HOW to do that.
It's good to be confident, but she comes across as too self-promoting.Skip this book.
A new mom recommended this as a "must" so I gave it to my daughter. She was so grateful because she AND her baby are so bonded. Good information. Thank you Amazon for shipping on time.
I think it is a bit odd this lady wants you to talk to the baby about EVERYTHING. This book is ok. There are somethings that I can follow and some I can't. Like when you bring the baby home for the first time she wants you to go in every room and tell the baby what it is and what you do in there. She is just a bit to wacky for me.
